Who can use ThirstCheck
ThirstCheck is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
What we collect
- Account details: email address, username and a securely stored password.
- Content you create or share: pictures, likes and comments.
- Waitlist: the email address you submit to hear about launch updates.
- Basic technical data needed to run and protect the service, such as sign-in times and abuse prevention logs.
How we use it
To run your account, show your content, keep the community safe, and send service messages you ask for (such as password resets and waitlist updates). We do not sell your personal information.
Fraud and abuse prevention
When you create an account, we keep a one-way, salted hash of the IP address you signed up from, along with the signup time. We don't keep the raw IP address for this. We use it only to prevent fraud and abuse, such as one person opening many accounts to collect free credits.
Site usage
We use simple, anonymous site-usage statistics to see which pages get visited so we can improve ThirstCheck. This includes a small first-party visit counter that records only the page visited, the day and hour, the referring website's domain and a broad device type (phone, tablet or desktop). It sets no cookies, stores no IP address, account or other personal data, and can't identify you. We don't use any of it for ads or to follow you around the web.
Service providers
We use trusted infrastructure providers for hosting, authentication, storage and outfit try-ons. They process data only to provide those services.
Your photos
Fitting-room photos are private and locked to your account. They are stored so only you can open them, with short-lived links rather than a public address. Other people can't remix them or use them. A picture reaches the public feed or the leaderboard only if you choose to post that picture. You can delete all of your photos from the fitting room. We don't claim a screenshot is impossible.
Face lock
You can scan with the front camera instead of uploading. We ask for the camera only when you tap Scan my face. The scan stays on your device while it is open. We keep the straight-on frame as your You photo, the same as an upload, and the face signature the same way. If the camera is blocked, upload a photo instead. Before your first photo, we show one screen. It explains the lock, and you tick a box and press Lock my face. After that, the screen does not come back. A small Face locked badge shows in settings and on the upload. We store a face signature, a list of numbers, and only that. We do not keep an extra face photo for this check.
We use it so later photos, your profile picture, and the fitting-room You photo are the same person as the account. A different person needs their own account. Outfit photos are not checked this way. Faces in those pictures are ignored so only the clothes are used.
We keep the embedding until you delete all your photos in the fitting room, or until the account is deleted. Then the embedding is deleted too. We do not sell it, and we do not use it for ads.
We ask first because biometric privacy laws, including the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act and the biometric privacy laws in Texas and Washington, expect a clear opt-in, a reason, and a retention period. This section is that explanation. It is not a certificate that every law everywhere is satisfied.
If your look changes a lot and a photo of you is turned away, an admin can reset the face lock. The next photo can enroll again, and we ask for a fresh opt-in.
Body scan
A body scan is optional. A face-only account works the same as before. When you start one and you have not locked your face yet, the same consent screen includes a short line about body data. If you already consented, that screen does not come back.
Prop the phone up or use a tripod, and pick the front or rear camera. We ask for the camera only after that choice. A countdown starts, a full-body outline appears, and you step into it. Wear fitted clothes. We keep pose measurements, shoulder, waist, hip, inseam, and height ratios, plus one or two full-body photos in your private fitting room. The face in the scan has to match the face lock. Those frames are checked for nudity the same way other photos are. They are used so outfit swaps and scenes match your proportions. Only you can open them. There is no download button. Delete body scan removes the measurements and those photos at any time. Deleting all your photos, or deleting the account, removes them too.
Your choices
You can edit your profile, delete your photos in the fitting room, or ask us to delete your account and data or remove you from the waitlist by emailing support@thirstcheck.com.
Security and retention
We use industry-standard safeguards, but no system is perfectly secure. We keep data while your account is active or as needed to meet legal obligations.
Changes
We may update this policy and will change the date above when we do.
